Letters printed & delivered for you for FREE.

Just go to Dearelder.com
Katrina's location is Provo MTC
Mailbox #150
Mission Thai-Ban 105
Expected MTC departure date 1/20/2011

That's all the info you will need. So Easy and they deliver letters every day.

Our family has been sending her letters this way, it's like sending daily E-mails but they get printed and delivered.
This is so much easier for all the missionaries because they don't have much time to read email on the computer anyway.

So the once a week 30 min of computer time can be spent writing to us rather than reading.

I sent a Halloween package this way too. So Happy Halloween to Katrina.

MTC First P Day

Here are a few paragraphs from Katrina's first P day Email

The sisters told me "I have never met anyone, ever, not even here in the MTC who has such a strong desire to serve the Lord and is so hard working. You are amazing and we love you. We thought when you first came that you were for us, to inspire us to be more excited about the gospel. Even if you only serve with us for a few weeks we have gained from it. And maybe that is one of the many reasons you were called to this mission to help us"

I have not met anyone! who is paying for their own missions one sister said "my parents paid for my brother mission and they are paying for mine too" another said "my parents wanted to make that sacrifice becuase they wanted the blessing that come along with it" I am SHOCKED that no one paid for all of there mission.

I will be sending my journal entries (copy) to the family snail mail so you can read about my companion, district, function of MTC, and my hard ships, and a little of what I have been eating

I love you and all

Your Daughter for eternity,

Sister Amero

Katrina's First E'mail from MTC upon Pre-checkin

I found out there is gym class for girls only. 5 days a week, 6am-630 (usually wake time 630. Breakfast at 7-8. Though I did not need an hour today to eat. Also showers only 8 per bathroom. I think there is two on a floor.

I roomed with 4 sisters, all international, japan, france, austria, and can't recall the other.

The room is small, I will send you a pic. small closets, like the size of the walk in in the sewing room but not a walk in. like only 2 ft deep, cupboard thing.

Last night I met all the thailand missionaries. 6 elders and two sisters. That all. That is my branch. And all of them have been here for 6 weeks. My sister comes today. My classes will have two teachers, and me and my companion, that's it. It is that small. I hope I will not overpower my companion in class with all my questions and comments. So there will be four sister to a room that fits 6. I hope my companion or the two sisters would want to go to the early morning class (it rotates, step aerobics, yoga etc) One of the senior elders, Dr. here said they do that "so that the elders do not ruin the sisters"

I have noticed I like to talk alot. I do feel this could be a problem. I asked the international sisters what kind of calling they had. I noticed I talked the most about mine. I hope I did not come off as I was trying to one them up.
Please send me snail mail too. I ONLY GET 30 MIN OF COMPUTER TIME. I thought it was an hour. :(

Airport Delays - Delta is not so good....

Katrina was so nervous geting her bags checked in at the airport. Final weigh in at 50 pounds exactly and 51 pounds. They let the one pound over slide. Phew....

Well if being nervous on departure day wasn't enough the fuel pump went bad on the airplane for the 11:30am flight so huge lines getting everyone on that flight reassigned to another later airplane.
Katrina got assigned to the 1:30 flight but then that got delayed too! So far we are thinking that Delta is not the best airline to fly with and Katrina is wondering if this is a sign. Not good for the nerves!
Hopefully, soon Katrina will be up in the air and on her way to Utah!

Last Day at Home 10/18/2010

Well, This is Katrina's Mom. I get to be officially in charge of updating Sister Katrina Amero's Mission Blog. Katrina has handed over the reign.
We had a great FHE with her Stake President Mccoy and his wife at our home. We had a nice visit and lesson from Pres. Mccoy. Then Pres. Mccoy and Katrina's Dad set her apart to be Sister Katrina Amero. Telisha & I got to be her first companion. Telisha almost patted Sister Amero on the bum, but then said "oh ya, guess I can't do that now". Cute..... All of us had a quite evening of more packing and sewing some last minute things.

Today was a day full of packing and more laundry and weighing the suitcases which were both just 5 pounds over the 50 pound limit. Oh no! Well, problem solved by removing the first aid kit and a few other things to the carryon. Oh boy, it is not going to be easy living out of just 2 suitcases for 18 months!
It was such a beautiful Fall Day so Dad had to take Katrina flying for one last time before the setting apart and mission check in.
They flew over the neighborhood and the corn maze and got some great pics. Katrina's going to miss our Mt. Rainier.

Don't take crayons

Note: Do not take crayons to Thailand.
Thought: Do you think the pages you have marked with crayon will stick together due to the climate?

In the scriptures, it says to cry repentance unto the people. I always thought repentance meant going to the Bishop or asking for forgiveness when do something wrong. Or the story about the prophet who stood on the wall and no arrows could shoot him down while he was crying repentance unto the people. While studying PMG though, pg 63, The gospel of Jesus Christ, in the scripture study box says to look up "repentance" in the bible dictionary. I assume I would jsut find more scriptures and not a real definition but I did find a definition, one I had never thought of repentance like before..

BIBLE DICTIONARY
Repentance
The Greek word of which this is the translation denotes a change of mind, i.e., a fresh view about God, about oneself, and about the world. Since we are born into conditions of mortality, repentance comes to mean a turning of the heart and will to God, and a renunciation of sin to which we are naturally inclined. Without this there can be no progress in the things of the soul’s salvation, for all accountable persons are stained by sin, and must be cleansed in order to enter the kingdom of heaven. Repentance is not optional for salvation; it is a commandment of God.

A fresh view! Turning of the heart, change of mind, and following the will of God. That is what the gospel is and the first principle of the gospel.

I love Conference

This talk made me want to be better, and the kind of parent I should be. Also how thankful I am for mine. And how they want to protect me from the scene and unseen dangers of the world. Also to pay attention to the warning even though sometimes we do not know why the spirit does so.

He says "Years ago our 17-year-old son wanted to go on a weekend trip with his friends, who were all good boys. He asked for permission to go. I wanted to say yes, but for some reason I felt uncomfortable about the trip. I shared my feelings with my wife, who was very supportive. “We need to listen to that warning voice,” she said. Of course, our son was disappointed and asked why we didn’t want him to go. I answered honestly that I didn’t know why. “I just don’t feel good about it,” I explained, “and I love you too much to ignore these feelings inside.” I was quite surprised when he said, “That’s OK, Dad. I understand.”

It also hit home when he warned that "Becoming a “couple” creates emotional intimacy, which too often leads to physical intimacy. Satan knows this sequence and uses it to his advantage. He will do whatever he can to keep young men from serving missions and to prevent temple marriages." I hope the youth do not falter, so much is at stake, salvation.

He also says to wait up for them to come home from their night acitiviies "There is a great deal of wisdom displayed when parents stay up and wait for their children to return home. Young men and women make far better choices when they know their parents are waiting up to hear about their evening." I tried this with Telisha, she did not take well, told me I wasn't her mother.

Well, I am not going to paste the whole article into the blog- http://new.lds.org/general-conference/2010/10/courageous-parenting?lang=eng or you can watch it above.
